All-new trailed combi spreader available in spring 2024

LAMMA 2024 sees the introduction of the new trailed ZG-TX combi spreader from Amazone – aimed at growers and contractors who are looking to do both bulk powders and granular material.

The ZG-TX offers both precise fertiliser spreading up to 54m along with an accurate application of lime up to 16m. The chassis is offered in two formats, the ZG-TX Special, in hopper capacities up to 9,000 litres, and the ZG-TX Super capable of carrying up to 11,200 litres.

Clever drawbar design and axle mounting position keeps the minimum load on the axle and plenty of weight on the tractor to ensure minimal soil compaction and maximum traction. Axle steering prevent crop damage on the headland turns. The material to be spread is conveyed rearwards using the well-known, self-centring, self-adjusting belt floor as found in the ZG-TS. The belt slopes upwards to the rear to again keep material at the front of the spread to improve stability and weight distribution.

There is easy access to the hopper via the front-loading platform and a hydraulically actuated rollover cover keeps the hopper contents clean and dry. Handy shovel and brush holders are provided for quick change round. The spreading mechanism is PTO-driven to ensure full performance when spreading high rates of lime, drive to the spreading discs goes through the torque-sensing FlowControl system to offer immediate, constant calibration and blockage detection.

When spreading granular fertiliser to wide widths, accuracy is maintained using the proven TS spreading system found on the ZA-TS and ZG-TS spreaders. Fertiliser from the belt floor is deposited into a reception hopper which includes the adjustable delivery point and high-rate on/off shutter usually found on the TS models. The TS spreading system means that automatic section control in 16 sections is available, as is the AutoTS boundary spreading system.

The highly-accurate AutoTS border spreading system for granular fertilisers gives a sharp, full-rate cut off right up to the field edge and is carried out at the press of a button in the cab, or automatically using GPS ScenarioControl. For lime, a hydraulically-actuated deflector is dropped down on the move into the spread fan to stop material passing outside of the field boundary.

The spreading function is controlled either via an Isobus terminal for fully automatic spreading and maximum comfort and flexibility, or via the EasySet 2 in-cab controller for simple rate control and manual on/off.

Conversion to lime is quick and easy and takes less than 30 minutes, the sieves are folded up out of the way to maintain lime flow, the chain rake is dropped down to keep the bulk material evenly spread over the full belt width and the spreading discs are switched. Between lime and fertiliser, the electrically-actuated delivery system is replaced by the simple lime chute. The ZG-TX will be available in spring 2024.
